THE CRAFTSMANSHIP AND MATERIALS THAT MAKE OUR HAND-BRAIDED BELTS STAND OUT
Leather is the main component of our classic suede belts which is why we make no compromises when it comes to it. The leather is LWG Gold-rated Italian suede leather which is also the world’s first USDA certified biobased leather. The raw hides are side-products of the meat industry and are tanned in compliance with the strict REACH Regulations.
Braided belts have enjoyed great popularity due to their timeless elegance for many decades. Paired with a sleek brass buckle, the 3.0cm/1.2in belt can be effortlessly worn with more formal or casual attire and will always look the part.
It takes the collaboration of 4 Italian artisans and 12 steps to craft one single Hand-braided Belt. The combination of 60 years of experience and excellent materials ensures the exceptional longevity and refined appearance of our belts.
For every single order, we plant one tree with our partner On A Mission and remove 80 plastic bottles from our beloved Oceans with our partner Empower. We are very proud to be a climate-positive and plastic-positive Company. All of our belts are packaged completely plastic-free in a beautiful black belt box made of FSC certified paper and come with a cotton dust bag from Italy. Every product has a footprint. We do everything in our power to make sure it’s a positive one.

Which materials are your buckles made of?
All of our buckles are made of high-quality solid brass, the benchmark material for luxury belts. Our classic belt buckles even have a rare palladium plating.
Which width do your buckles have?
In general, all of our buckles have a width of 3.5cm/1.4in. The only exception are the buckles of our hand-braided belts which have a width of 3.0cm/1.2in. You can always find that information in the product description as well.
Why are you displaying your production costs?
We all know that fashion brands heavily mark-up their prices. The traditional mark-up is 5-6 times. The mark-up for luxury brands can even be 10-15 times. They can do so, because we as consumers don't know the actual production price. We firmly believe that you have a right to know. That is the only way to empower you to make more informed and better purchasing positions. You can find the exact price-breakdown for each product in the “What it costs” section.
How do you calculate the traditional retail price?
This is how the fashion industry works traditionally:
Production Price x 2 - 2,5 (on average) = Wholesale Price
Wholesale Price x 2 - 2,5 (on average) = Traditional Retail Price
Take one of our braided belts for example. The Production Price is 31,27€.
Wholesale Price: 31,27€ x 2 = 62,54€
Traditional Retail Price: 62,54€ x 2,4 = 150,00€
Dalgado Price: 31,27 x 2,96 = 95,00€
We cut out the middle man, sell directly to you and pass the savings on to you. Our average mark-up is 3 times.
Why is transparency so important to you?
The fashion industry is notoriously opaque and deceiving. As a consumer you get hardly any reliable information on the actual origin of the materials and manufacturing conditions. We firmly believe the industry is fundamentally flawed. You have every right to know exactly what you are buying. That is why we reveal exactly where our products are made, what they are made of, and what they cost.
What does climate positive & plastic positive mean?
There is only one Earth and it is our responsibility to take care of it. Yet, regardless of how environmentally-friendly our materials and production processes are, every product has an ecological footprint. We do everything in our power to make sure it’s a positive one. For every single order, we plant one tree with our partner On A Mission and remove 1kg of plastic from our beloved Oceans with our partner Empower.
Being climate positive means that we as a Company go beyond achieving net zero carbon emissions and actually create an environmental benefit by removing additional carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Being plastic positive means that we as a Company remove more plastic from the oceans than is created during our entire production.
