THE CRAFTSMANSHIP AND MATERIALS THAT MAKE OUR CLASSIC BELTS STAND OUT

Guaranteed luxury quality without the markup The traditional art of belt-making has been a family passion for our Classic Belt Manufactory since 1825. The rare combination of skilled artisans, modern technology, and premium materials results in fairly-priced luxury belts which will withstand the test of time. We guarantee it.

KNOW WHAT YOU BUY

The fashion industry is notoriously opaque and deceiving. As a consumer you get hardly any reliable information on the actual origin of the materials and manufacturing conditions. To us, that is fundamentally wrong. You have every right to know exactly what you are buying. That is the only way to make better purchasing decisions.

OUR CLASSIC BELT MANUFACTORY
Hamburg, Germany

"Made in" labels are unfortunately a highly simplified truth. For a product to be legally labeled as "Made in Italy", for example, it is sufficient that the last essential production step took place in Italy. The term "essential" is often stretched to the limit. Many brands, including many luxury brands, use this loophole and have their products manufactured in low-wage countries in Eastern Europe and the Far East before they are "luxurified" in Italy. Unfortunately, as a consumer, you hardly ever know about this. To us, that is totally wrong and inexcusable. That is why all of our products are proudly crafted in family-owned workshops in Italy, Germany and Portugal where all artisans are treated with the respect they deserve.

Our Classic Belt Manufactory is the first Manufactory we ever worked with and will always have a special place in our hearts. Dating all the way back to 1825, it is not just the oldest belt Manufactory in Germany but also one of the very best. Every single belt is handcrafted of the finest materials by experienced artisans with the high aspiration to last a lifetime.

We cut out the middle man, sell directly to you and pass the savings on to you. Our average mark-up is 3 times and we reveal our exact production costs. You deserve to know.

GENERAL FAQ

Why are you displaying your production costs?
We all know that fashion brands heavily mark-up their prices. The traditional mark-up is 5-6 times. The mark-up for luxury brands can even be 10-15 times. They can do so, because we as consumers don't know the actual production price. We firmly believe that you have a right to know. That is the only way to empower you to make more informed and better purchasing positions. You can find the exact price-breakdown for each product in the “What it costs” section.

How do you calculate the traditional retail price?
This is how the fashion industry works traditionally:
Production Price x 2 - 2,5 (on average) = Wholesale Price
Wholesale Price x 2 - 2,5 (on average) = Traditional Retail Price

Take one of our braided belts for example. The Production Price is 31,27€.
Wholesale Price: 31,27€ x 2 = 62,54€
Traditional Retail Price: 62,54€ x 2,4 = 150,00€
Dalgado Price: 31,27 x 2,96 = 95,00€

We cut out the middle man, sell directly to you and pass the savings on to you. Our average mark-up is 3 times.

Why is transparency so important to you?
The fashion industry is notoriously opaque and deceiving. As a consumer you get hardly any reliable information on the actual origin of the materials and manufacturing conditions. We firmly believe the industry is fundamentally flawed. You have every right to know exactly what you are buying. That is why we reveal exactly where our products are made, what they are made of, and what they cost.

What does climate positive & plastic positive mean?
There is only one Earth and it is our responsibility to take care of it. Yet, regardless of how environmentally-friendly our materials and production processes are, every product has an ecological footprint. We do everything in our power to make sure it’s a positive one. For every single order, we plant one tree with our partner On A Mission and remove 1kg of plastic from our beloved Oceans with our partner Empower.

Being climate positive means that we as a Company go beyond achieving net zero carbon emissions and actually create an environmental benefit by removing additional carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Being plastic positive means that we as a Company remove more plastic from the oceans than is created during our entire production.
