About the tannery

Romano Giordani, the current president, founded Tirrena in 1953. Now in its third generation with nearly 70 years of experience, the tannery has earned a reputation as one of the industry leaders for premium shoe lining leather. It is therefore not surprising that it supplies many of the best footwear brands in the world. Tirrena's headquarters are located in Marche, the famous hub for high-quality Italian footwear.

Awards:

How we found the tannery

Our sneaker manufacture has been working successfully with Tirrena for many years, and Rui, the owner of our sneaker manufacture, highly recommended the tannery to us. He put us in contact with Tirrena, and we visited them. We were definitely not disappointed. Since they count so many famous luxury brands among their clients, we knew from the start that we couldn't go wrong working with this highly esteemed tannery.

Sustainability

Like all our tanneries, Tirrena is REACH-compliant. Even more importantly, the tannery is a member of the Leather Working Group (LWG), the leading institution for monitoring leather quality. To ensure that all leathers meet stringent REACH regulations and LWG requirements, the tannery employs numerous visual, mechanical, and chemical checks that guarantee the first-class quality and sustainability of the leathers.

Which leather we use

We use their full-grain calf lining leather for all of our sneakers. Conceria Tirrena is famous in the footwear industry for their premium quality lining leather which is not just particularly soft right from the first step but also exceptionally durable and breathable. All very important properties for advanced wearing comfort.

Calf Leather

"As a company, we have always shown a remarkable ability to evolve and adjust to the ever-changing market needs. That very ability has enabled us to become one of the most important tanneries in the European market of leather linings."

The work that goes into this leather

Leather is one of the oldest materials ever used by humans with historical records dating back many thousands of years. Even nowadays with modern technology, creating premium leathers is a complex and lengthy process. All of our raw hides are side-products of the meat and hunting industry. They are all tanned in Europe by some of the most prestigious tanneries in the world in compliance with the strict REACH Regulation to ensure a clean and sustainable production. The proud results are gorgeous leathers which will withstand the test of time and only become more beautiful with use.
