HOW TO DETERMINE YOUR GLOVE SIZE

Although there are many different types of gloves, such as protective gloves, sports gloves, driving gloves, or gloves for suits, they all have one thing in common: they must fit properly. However, the correct size is particularly important for elegant suit gloves, as an ill-fitting glove can detract from the charm of even the most beautiful outfit.

From hand circumference to the right glove size

Finding the right glove size is actually quite simple. You just need to measure your hand circumference, as the other hand measurements usually behave proportionally to this value. To do this, measure your larger hand, usually your writing hand, at the widest point (without the thumb) with a flexible measuring tape (see sketch). Wrap the measuring tape loosely around your hand so that the gloves don't fit too tightly later. If you don't have a measuring tape, you can also use a thread or a cable, measure the hand circumference as usual, and then read the length on a ruler or tape measure.

A look at our glove size chart will then give you information about your perfect size. The sizes of high-quality leather gloves are usually given in numerical figures. For your convenience, we have also indicated the corresponding sizes in S, M, L, XL. If you are between two sizes, we advise you to round down to the next half or whole size, as the gloves will stretch over time. Please note that women's and men's sizes are not cut the same. For example, women's and men's gloves differ in terms of finger diameter and elasticity. If you still have any questions about your glove size, you can always send us an email.

Please note that glove sizes are not standardized, and the size chart is specifically designed for Dalgado gloves and serves only as a guide for gloves from other brands.

Check Your Size

Leather gloves should fit quite snugly at first, as they will stretch and conform to your hand shape over time. When you put on your gloves for the first time, gently bend your fingers upwards. If a small crease forms at your knuckles, you know the glove is the right size. If no crease is visible, the glove is too large. If you have trouble slipping into the gloves and your finger movement is restricted, the glove is too small.

Restore Original Fit

The glove maker determines the cut and elasticity of each glove. Since leather is an elastic natural material, the glove can stretch a little over time. To restore the elasticity of the gloves to their original state, stretch the gloves by carefully pulling them over a table edge, holding the fingertips in one hand and the glove opening in the other. Then, stretch each finger individually from the base to the fingertip.

Use and storage

A high-quality leather glove is best slipped on by alternately pulling down the palm and back of the hand. Avoid pressing down between the fingers. When you want to take off the glove, first gently pull each finger individually and then all fingers at once.

We recommend giving your gloves short breaks from wear regularly so that they have time to dry completely. It is best to store the gloves flat, separated by dark and light colors, and away from any heat sources, such as sun or heaters.

Should your gloves have stains and you would like to clean them yourself, please take a look at our glove care instructions for the respective item. For any other questions, send us an email and we will help you as best as possible.
